Discover all the development of the HAL CV

Written by Agnès Magron

Enhanced display and referencing, improved printing, the ability to display dataset metadata available in other repositories and, coming soon, a Word export functionality: the HAL CV has changed to better meet researchers’ expectations.
When you view your HAL CV, these updates may not be immediately apparent. Here’s a quick overview of the new features:
  • The CV URL is unique: user feedback indicated that search engines could index the CV by considering different facets (co-authors, affiliations, projects, etc.). This had a negative impact on the display of the entire CV, in particular by distorting the indicators. The management of filters has been improved, thus optimising the referencing of CVs.
  • If the CV is bilingual, changing the language is no longer done on the CV page. The functionality has been harmonised with other HAL screens and the language selection is made at the top of the screen in the HAL bar.
  • The display of ANR and European projects is improved when this criterion is activated to filter publications: the project name is now displayed.
  • The formatting of the printable version has been revised and improved.
  • Improved consideration of digital accessibility. When customising your CV, remember to check colour contrasts with a tool such as Contrast Checker.
  • [coming soon] A Word export function is available if you wish to edit or use your HAL CV according to your needs.
Do you have an ORCID ? display your datasets metadata

You can enrich your CV by referencing your datasets metadata available in another repository: this is an option to be enabled in the CV settings, under the Biography section.

To retrieve the correct information, HAL uses your ORCID identifier to query the OpenALex catalogue. If you haven’t done so already, remember to add your ORCID identifier to your idHAL. The ORCID identifier must also be associated with your data in the original repository to establish the link.

Software Code Modernisation
The most important new development – although not visible – is the technical foundation on which the CV now rests. The code modernisation is part of the Equipex+ HALiance project and the CV is one of the deliverables of Work Package 2. The code has been migrated to a modern application development environment that provides greater maintainability and scalability, thereby optimising performance.
