First steps with HAL
One-hour online learning course.
Objectives: to master the general operation of submitting to HAL, to set up your account, to create your idHAL and your HAL CV.
At the end of this practical training, you will have all the keys to move on to the next stage: depositing in HAL.
Depositing in HAL
One-hour online learning course.
Objectives: to master the process of depositing a scientific publication in HAL.
In this practical training, you will go step by step through the process of depositing one of your publications in HAL, accompanied by a member of the CCSD support team.
Pre-requisite: be a doctoral student or a researcher and have at least one scholarly publication to deposit in HAL.
Starting your collection in HAL
One-hour online learning course, in groups of maximum 20 people, for HAL users who are starting to manage their collections.
Pedagogical objective:
- Identify the principle of a collection and the role of the manager
- Define the criteria for stamping your collection
- To stamp/unstamp a deposit manually
Managing the website of your collection in HAL
This online training of two hours, in groups of maximum 20 people, is for HAL users who are starting to manage the website of their collection.
Pedagogical objectives:
- Identify the levels of personalisation of the site
- Configure headers and footers
- Configure the navigation menus
- Configure the body of a personalised page
- Insert a news item
Administering a HAL Portal
This two-day course is intended for HAL portal administrators.
Prerequisites: knowledge of the basic principles and functionalities of HAL – in particular the deposit – functionalities that are not covered during the training.
This course is offered to teams of new portals and to people in charge of portal administration activities.
At the end of this course, you will be able to independently administer your institution’s HAL portal. You will learn how to:
- enter/modify reference data in auréHAL: authors, structures, journals, etc.;
- create a collection and link it to the portal;
- manage users: modify accounts, assign rights;
- modify the deposits of your portal: de-duplication, curation, etc.
- build API requests and query statistical tools.

Moderation of HAL Deposits
This one-day training course is aimed at teams from institutions who wish to take in charge the technical validation in HAL and at people already responsible for moderation who wish to update their knowledge.
You will learn how to:
- how to identify the elements to be validated at the time of going online,
- managing the space reserved for validation in the HAL,
- making modification requests to users.
