An overview of the latest Episciences changes for version 1.0.54
Article and volume management
- A new option allows for the showing or hiding of empty volumes on the public website

- It is now possible to lock a volume title once an article has been published within it.
- Article numbers are now displayed correctly for secondary volumes.
- Secondary volumes are now displayed on the public article page (external contribution by Willem Scholten, University of Leiden).
- Volume descriptions may now contain up to 1024 characters.
User experience and interface – management interface
- The interface for editing page text has been modernised following an update to the TinyMCE tool.
- An updated user interface to manage the Folders and pages
- The ‘Manage Articles’ page has been streamlined: the article status is now displayed first, and the panels for ‘Add a co-author’, ‘Add an author affiliation’, ‘Graphical abstract’, ‘Links: publications – data – software’, and ‘Volumes & Sections’ are now collapsed by default.
- ‘Number’ and ‘Year’ columns have been added to the volume list to improve organisation.
- The presentation of comments has been enhanced for correspondence between editors, cover letters, and exchanges between reviewers and authors.

- Journals may now enable a feature allowing authors to contact the editors of their article. This is disabled by default (the identity of editors can be shown or hidden according to the journal’s preference).

- In email forms, a correction has been made to the CC/BCC fields which were previously non-clickable in the article status change forms.
- Display issues regarding special characters (&, emojis) in article titles have been resolved.
- ORCID input fields: URLs are now automatically cleaned to keep only the 16-digit identifier
Interoperability
- New OAI-PMH format: the Crossref format has been added to expose metadata of published articles, alongside a new stylesheet for the OAI-PMH server.
- Integration of the MSC2020 classification in ZBJATS exports for zbMATH Open.
- A new preprint server (Cryptology ePrint Archive) is now compatible with Episciences.
Miscellaneous
- Enhancements to both performance and security.
- The statistics system has been updated: the list of bots (used to distinguish between bot and human traffic) has been updated using the COUNTER Robots list.
- Optional Webhook: It is now possible to report article status changes to an external entry point (can be configured by journal, please contact the support if you want to use it).
